Cake Prices in Pune per Kg (2026): What Bakers Actually Charge
We looked at what Pune cake shops, home bakers and delivery apps charge per kg in 2026. Use it to check whether your own prices are too low.

A plain black forest from a neighbourhood shop and a custom fondant cake from a home studio can both be called "a 1 kg cake". One sells for ₹550. The other can go past ₹2,000. Same city, same weight.
If you bake for a living in Pune, you've probably had a customer say "but the shop near my house is cheaper". This post is for that moment. We went through public price listings from Pune bakeries, home bakers and delivery apps in October 2026 to see where prices really sit.
The short answer
Most cakes in Pune sell somewhere between ₹500 and ₹1,500 per kg. Where you land depends on three things: what's on the cake, who made it, and where the customer bought it.
| Type of cake | Typical price in Pune (per kg) | Where you see it |
|---|---|---|
| Basic cream cakes (pineapple, black forest, butterscotch) | ₹500 to ₹800 | Neighbourhood bakeries, walk-in counters |
| Home baker, standard flavours | ₹700 to ₹1,000 | Instagram and WhatsApp home bakers |
| Premium chain cakes on delivery apps | ₹1,100 to ₹1,350 | Swiggy and Zomato listings |
| Theme, character and loaded cakes (KitKat, Gems, photo cakes) | ₹1,500 and up | Home studios and custom cake shops |
| Fondant, tiered and showpiece cakes | ₹2,000 to ₹2,500+ | Custom cake studios, wedding orders |
A few real examples behind those ranges:
- A Wanwadi cake shop lists half-kg black forest cakes at ₹550 per kg on IndiaMART. (listing)
- Baker's Basket, a Pune chain, lists a 1 kg Belgian silk chocolate cake at about ₹1,333 and an eggless black forest at about ₹1,143 on Swiggy. (Swiggy)
- One Model Colony home baker featured by LBB starts customised cakes at ₹700 per kg, with KitKat and Gems cakes at ₹1,500 per kg. (LBB)
- Homemade eggless cakes listed by Pimpri-Chinchwad and Punawale sellers on IndiaMART mostly sit between ₹700 and ₹900 per kg. (IndiaMART)
Every number above comes from public listings we checked in October 2026. Treat them as ranges, not a price list: shops change prices, and app prices move with offers.

Why delivery app prices look higher
The same cake usually costs more on Swiggy or Zomato than at the counter. That isn't the baker being greedy. The apps take a commission on every order, plus GST on that commission, and many bakers raise menu prices to cover it.
So when a customer compares your WhatsApp price with an app price, they're often comparing your real price with an inflated one. That's worth saying out loud, politely.
Where home bakers usually go wrong
The most common mistake we see is pricing by looking at the shop next door. A neighbourhood bakery making 40 black forests a day buys cream in bulk and spreads its rent across hundreds of cakes. You're making four cakes, by hand, to order. Your cost per cake is different.
The second mistake is forgetting the small stuff: the cake board, the box, the candles you throw in, the gas, the 40 minutes you spent on WhatsApp sorting out the message on top. None of it is free.
A quick test: if a customer asks for 1 kg chocolate truffle and you quote under ₹700 in Pune in 2026, check your numbers. Cream, chocolate and butter have all gone up, and you may be paying the customer to eat your cake.
What pushes your price up, fairly
These are reasons customers in Pune generally accept a higher price:
- Eggless, when it tastes as good as the egg version
- Real chocolate or Belgian chocolate instead of compound
- Fresh fruit instead of tinned
- Fondant work, sugar flowers or hand-painted details
- Same-day or midnight delivery
- A photo or character design that takes an hour of decorating
Put these on your menu as add-ons with their own price. "Eggless +₹100/kg" is much easier to defend than a vague higher number.
How to use this table
Don't copy the numbers. Use them to see where you sit. If your standard truffle is ₹650/kg and similar home bakers in Kothrud or Baner charge ₹800 to ₹900, you probably have room. If you're at ₹1,400 for a plain cake, your photos and reviews need to justify it.
Then work out your own cost per kg properly. We wrote a separate guide on that: How to price cakes per kg in India.
Pertanyaan yang sering diajukan
What is the price of a 1 kg cake in Pune?
A basic 1 kg cream cake costs ₹500 to ₹800 at most neighbourhood bakeries. Home bakers usually charge ₹700 to ₹1,000 for standard flavours, and themed or fondant cakes cost ₹1,500 or more.
Are eggless cakes more expensive in Pune?
Sometimes. Some bakers add a small per-kg charge for eggless, while eggless-only bakers usually price every cake the same.
Why is the same cake cheaper at the shop than on Swiggy?
Delivery apps charge bakers a commission on each order, so many bakers set higher prices on the app to cover it.
Prices only work if customers can see them. On Frostique, each cake can have its own weights, flavours and add-ons, each with a price, and eggless is marked clearly. Customers see the full price before they message you. It's free for up to eight products, with 0% commission.
